Think of this as the everyday, lighter cousin of a body butter — a water-free take on lotion that's soft enough to smooth on quickly before you get dressed. Equal parts grass-fed tallow and shea, loosened with a little extra oil so it spreads like a dream.
Fills one 8 oz jar25 minBeginner-friendly
Equal parts tallow and shea give you barrier-loving richness, while a little extra jojoba loosens the whip into something lighter and more spreadable than a dense butter. Skin drinks it in fast.
Gently melt the tallow and shea butter together in a double boiler until just liquid.
Stir in the jojoba oil and remove from the heat.
Nest the bowl in ice and cool until it firms to the softness of soft butter.
Whip on medium for 2–3 minutes, until light and spreadable.
Whip in the essential oil if using, then spoon into your jar.
Stored in a clean, dry jar away from light and heat, it keeps for about four to six months with no preservative needed. Always scoop with clean, dry fingers or a small spoon.
Making your own is a joy — but on the busy weeks, ours is whipped, jarred, and ready. Same grass-fed tallow, none of the dishes.
