Sometimes you want a balm that travels — no jar, no scooping, just twist and glide. This solid tallow balm firms into a smooth stick that melts the moment it meets warm skin, perfect for dry elbows, shins, and the backs of your hands. Twenty minutes, start to finish.
Fills about 2–3 balm tubes or a small tin20 minBeginner-friendly
A little beeswax gives this balm its firm, twist-up structure, while grass-fed tallow and jojoba do the softening once it warms against your skin. You get the cushion of a balm in a no-mess stick.
Gently melt the tallow and beeswax together in a double boiler over low heat until just liquid.
Stir in the jojoba oil and remove from the heat.
Stir in the essential oil if using.
Pour into your tubes or tin and leave to set, undisturbed, until firm.
Capped and kept somewhere cool and dry, it stays fresh for about a year with no preservative needed. On a hot day it can soften — a few minutes in the fridge firms it back up.
Making your own is a joy — but on the busy weeks, ours is whipped, jarred, and ready. Same grass-fed tallow, none of the dishes.
